CHRISTIAN MYSTIC. For many years I have heard teachings on becoming intimate with God and practicing the presence of God. And certainly we should make that our highest priority—to love God with all our heart and soul and mind and strength.

But the teachers rarely show how to engage and sustain contact with God. And I rarely hear the content of their experiences with God. They usually just provide a word they received which they want to relay to us. Too often a prophetic word will consist of a single sentence from God followed by a load of words by the prophetic person.

True, I can learn much from his experience and his own understanding of what He received from God. But I would rather hear more from God Himself.

In the same way, many of us have received training on how to receive a message from God. Then we learn how to interpret and apply it. I see great value in that. But I think we may be cutting the conversation too short. If we love God, we will want more communication from Him than a word, or a sentence, or even a paragraph.

So at one point I just got on the floor. I decided to stay there until I had received as much from God as I could. I had no agenda except to find out all that God wanted to show me.

And as soon as I hit the floor I did see a vision from God. I could have taken that vision and bounced right back up. But instead, I “kept looking”, as Daniel did in chapter seven of his book of prophecy.
