In a time of repose and waiting on the Lord I drift through mists. The mists cling to me and wrap me like a cocoon. As a result, I become a cloud, gliding and not landing anywhere.
For in this season I am waiting for my destiny to take shape as I test and approve God’s will. My work and my relationships and even my home hang in limbo. Swaddling clothes bind me, smother my senses and muffle the sounds outside. I hear only my own heartbeat. But each beat releases inner growth. Through capillaries the blood branches out then returns through tributaries to my heart. It does not yet produce blossoms or fruit.
In my hibernation the only other sound I hear is my breathing. Just as the heart beats its blood out and receives it back, so I breathe in and out the wind of the Spirit. The cocoon screens pollution from the air. His pure breezes caress my inner branches with life-giving strokes. He tends my interior garden. Also he disentangles my weeds and pulls them out. The Spirit makes rough spots smooth. His government and peace increase.
Growth bursts from the cocoon
He creates an atmosphere so serene that His still small voice sounds loud and clear. This voice quickens my interior growth. Buds pop out. Flowers unfold. Fruit takes shape. My wrappings begin to stretch and snap. Bonds once strong turn weak and flimsy. Diffuse light becomes bright. Cocoon fibers disintegrate and float away in the mist. The mist itself vanishes in the burning sun.
I step forth as from a dream onto solid ground. It is cleared for cultivation. Now I can plant my interior garden on the outside. The kingdom of God within can become an outward reality. It is time to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth, expanding in all directions.
When the growth reaches the borders with my neighbors, I have nowhere to grow than up. I can now produce thirty, sixty and one hundred fold fruit lifted to God. He will take the first fruits, then scatter the seeds abroad. Those who receive the seeds can grow their own hidden gardens till they too burst into light, from womb to revelation.
